Bush's Priorities

It's hard to know how reliable these rumors are, but Michael Chertoff's name is being floated to replace Alberto Gonzales as Attorney General. Leaving aside entirely the question of whether Chertoff is a good person for the job, is a shake-up at the Department of Homeland Security really what the White House wants right now? We were told by Bush and company that the investigations of Gonzales were distracting the Department of Justice from it's important work. Now, in order to clean up this political nightmare, Bush is willing to turn things upside-down at Homeland Security, a department that is still new and which many of us think is not doing such a great job as it is. Pardon me for stating the obvious, but once again the President will cry homeland security when it suits him politically, but in the crunch shows that it isn't really his priority.
